Atelier Lucas Original 1960's jersey knit hat in cream with a snakeskin print.
Although 1960’s the hat appears 1940s inspired!
Made in England.
The fabric (a jersey knit that feels like wool or wool blend) has natural stretch and the sides can be pulled down to cover the ears.
The shape is asymmetric, sloping subtley to one side from the front view.
The structure is maintained with stiff netting as well as a stiffened internal fabric.
PLEASE NOTE: There are orange-ish discolourations seen on the fabric particrlarly around the top ridge. I think it is where the glue was originally used to attach the outer fabric to the inner support. INSIGNIFICANT ON WEARING!
A bit of history….
This hat was purchased as part of the extensive wardrobe belonging to an astute woman of fashion (I call her Leopard Lady as she loved leopard print) who lived to 100 years. Her daughter informed me that up until the age of 70 she always wore heels, hats and a handbag and was recognized and admired in her local high street in the Midlands.
The collection purchased includes coats, blouses, dresses, bags, hats (Large fit) and shoes (size 39 / 40) which will all be listed for sale.
A series of related ‘fashion shoot’ style posts are appearing on the Marshmallowvintage Instagram. This hat has been featured.
